Women DRONERESPONDERS to Host Second Official Meeting at National Public Safety UAS Conference
The Women DRONERESPONDERS (WDR) Sub-Alliance will hold its second official meeting on March 11, 2025, during the National Public Safety UAS Conference. The meeting will take place at the Festhaus in Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA, and will highlight the contributions of women in public safety drone operations.
This event aims to bring together women leaders, operators, and advocates to exchange ideas, strengthen professional networks, and showcase the unique value women provide in this field.
A Platform for Mentorship and Collaboration
The WDR initiative, created under the DRONERESPONDERS (DR) umbrella, focuses on providing mentorship, fostering collaboration, and empowering women in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) roles.
“The WDR initiative provides a platform for mentorship, collaboration, and empowerment, ensuring women have the tools and resources needed to excel in UAS roles,” stated Charles Werner, DR director, who spearheaded the group.
The WDR steering committee includes:
- Paige Fitzgerald, deputy director of the Delaware Emergency Management Agency
- Chuck Moran, founder of Online Video Mastery
- Katie Thielmeyer, risk reduction officer and UAS program manager for the Woodlawn Fire Department in Cincinnati
- Amy Wiegand, DR board member and founder of Earhart Alden & Associates
Opportunities for Growth
The upcoming meeting will focus on leadership opportunities within WDR and provide attendees with the chance to connect with fellow professionals in public safety. These efforts align with the broader mission of DR to advance lifesaving drone technology.
