Myles Garrett trade rumors mention Cowboys, 2 other teams as potential landing spots if shocking deal happens

Now that June 1 has arrived, a key NFL trade that has long been rumored could finally come to fruition.

While the long-anticipated trade involving Brown and the New England Patriots becomes more financially feasible for the Philadelphia Eagles as the calendar reaches June, another NFL star could also be on the move according to the latest reporting. Myles Garrett, who did not participate in the Cleveland Browns’ OTAs, has been linked to potential trades to the Los Angeles Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys.

As noted by our friends at Dawgs by Nature, Cleveland made several tweaks to Garrett’s contract back in March, potentially to add flexibility around the salary cap. But at the time those adjustments were made, it was noted that the changes also made it easier to trade Garrett, at least hypothetically.

After June 1, the Browns could split the approximately $41 million in dead money they’d incur from a Garrett trade over two seasons on their salary cap. If a trade occurred at any point after Monday, the Browns would carry $15.53 million of dead money on their 2026 salary cap and take on the remaining $25.56 million of dead money in 2027.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry has been clear all offseason that he wants to keep Garrett in Cleveland. Speaking at the league’s annual meeting in March, around the time Cleveland made those adjustments to Garrett’s contract, Berry denied that those changes were made to create a path to a trade. “If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have needed to make a contract adjustment,” Berry said via ESPN. “So it doesn’t have anything to do with that.”

Berry continued to describe Garrett as a “career Brown.”

“Myles is a career Brown,” Berry added. “He is one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve been very clear both past and present in terms of our feelings. I understand all the questions. I’ll be honest, I don’t really want to waste a ton more breath on the topic.”

Still, those rumors persist. On Sunday night social media was filled with chatter regarding a potential trade to the Rams, and on Monday Mary Kay Cabot from Cleveland.com opined that the Rams, Eagles, and Cowboys were in the mix. The longtime Cleveland writer went on to wonder if the Browns would “seize the moment” and make a such a shocking trade.

Eliot Shorr-Parks, a longtime Eagles’ beat writer, put together this bit of “tea leaf reading” on both Brown and Garrett:

So will we actually see a trade involving Garrett? Or is this all just something to talk about in June before football starts for real?

I guess we’ll know for sure sometime soon.
