From the players on the court to the fans in attendance, there was no shortage of standout sneaker moments Saturday during the New York Knicks’ historic NBA championship win, but many of the best shoes were ones that money can’t buy. Along with Spike Lee’s custom Air Jordan 3s, another one of the Knicks’ biggest fans was gifted exclusive sneakers in New York orange-and-blue.
Although he most frequently laces up Chrome Hearts-customized Timberlands while seated in Madison Square Garden’s Celebrity Row, Timothée Chalamet opted for a sportier selection during Saturday’s series-clinching win. Ahead of the game, the lifelong Knicks fan was given two one-of-one Bape Bape Sta styles: one in a home-themed white, orange and blue combination and the other sporting a black base with blue overlays and orange branding.
The patent leather pairs were shared on Instagram by A Bathing Ape brand partnerships manager Kevin Le, who confirmed that each pair was exclusively made for Chalamet. The sneakers do not include any official Knicks branding, but instead use the Bape Sta’s signature Ape head heel stamp, metal hardware and bold star logo, allowing the colors to tell the story.

And Chalamet wasn’t the only star with special sneakers on Saturday. Although he chose to wear the Homecoming x Nike Air Max Plus collaboration during the game, iconic Knicks fan Spike Lee had yet another exclusive pair ready for Game 5. After receiving a pair of mismatched Air Jordan 3s ahead of Game 3, Lee shared yet another custom Air Jordan 3 style on Saturday, this time in matching Knicks blue.
It’s unlikely that Chalamet and Lee’s exclusive sneakers will end up receiving public releases, but FN will update readers if anything changes. In the meantime, other Bape Sta styles can be shopped now from bape.com, and readers can shop a small selection of Air Jordan 3s from nike.com.
