It hasn’t been long since training camps opened around the NFL, but we’re already seeing some profound injuries that will shake up the 2026 season. Seemingly every day we’re seeing some team in the league get hit with bad news, to the point where it’s easy to lose track of everything that’s happened.
We’re tracking the biggest injuries in training camp that will force teams to pivot their plans for the season. These are either stars, starters, or key contributors that teams can’t afford to be without and keep their strategy intact for the upcoming season.
Ricky Pearsall, WR — San Francisco 49ers
The Niners have officially shut down Pearsall for the season as he undergoes surgery for an ongoing PCL injury. This is a major blow with Pearsall being assumed to be the No. 1 receiver entering the year for San Francisco. As a result the team signed Deebo Samuel to return, after playing in Washington in 2025.
Nic Scourton, EDGE — Carolina Panthers
The first injury of training camp, the Panthers lost second-year pass rusher Nic Scourton, who figured to be a huge part of their plans across from Jaelan Phillips. Scouton tore his ACL during drills, and will miss the entire season. The team has not signed another pass rusher of note, and appear to be moving forward with Princely Umanmielen getting starter reps.
Brian Bresee, DT — New Orleans Saints
The Saints quest to assert themselves in the NFC South took a huge hit with the news that Brian Bresee torn his ACL and will miss the entire 2026 season. As it stands the team only has John Ridgeway III to fill in, a day three draft pick from 2022 with limited experience. There is a chance the Saints will try and sign a replacement before the season begins.
Chris Brazell III, WR — Carolina Panthers
Another injury for the Panthers: Rookie WR Chris Brazell III will miss the entire season due to an LCL tear. The expectation was that Brazell would push for the No. 3 receiver spot, but now it more or less opens the job to third-year receiver Xavier Legette.
Coby Bryant, S — Chicago Bears
One of the big free agents for the Bears this season was safety Coby Bryant, who played with the Super Bowl winning Seahawks. Bryant was part of the team’s plan to solidify their secondary, but sustained a knee injury in training camp on Monday. We dont know the severity of the injury at this time, but reports indicate that Bryant was frustrated, slammed his helmet on the ground, and carted off the field — indicating that this may be serious.
