How to Stream the Premiere’s Red Carpet From Home

Your favorite duo — Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs, of course — is returning for the long-awaited continuation of “The Devil Wears Prada” saga, out on May 1, but not before walking the red carpet of their new film’s world premiere on April 20 as Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. The star-studded spectacle is set to take place at David Geffen Hall located in NYC’s Lincoln Center, with invites extended to the cast of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” as well as your favorite celebrities and influencers. Given fashion’s looming presence in the movie and the actors’ recent press tour looks, it’s safe to say the premiere’s red-carpet ensembles will be utterly unforgettable. And if you can’t make it out to the Big Apple to catch it all live, the world premiere is going to be broadcast live on Disney+ and Hulu, beginning 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT “with a full replay” to follow, per Disney+.

Here’s exactly how you can tune in… and do so for free, thanks to the streaming platforms’ generous free trial offers.

How to Watch ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ World Premiere Red Carpet Online

While promoting their latest release — which Runway Magazine devotees patiently waited for since “The Devil Wears Prada’s” first chapter debuted a whole two decades ago — Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci have been jet-setting everywhere from Mexico City and Tokyo to Shanghai and London. Now, they’re landing squarely in America’s fashion capital for the world premiere of the upcoming film: strutting the red carpet before sitting down to watch their masterpiece alongside fans, celebrities, and celebrity fans.

You too can be a part of this historic moment with the help of Disney+ and Hulu, where the red carpet livestream will commence the evening of April 20, promising an “inside look at one of the most glamorous nights of the year”: punctuated by red carpet arrivals, behind-the-scenes interviews featuring the cast members, and everything in between.

Take a look at the below editor-recommended live TV streaming providers and how you can take advantage of their benefits right in time for Monday’s festivities.

Hulu + Live TV

Hulu + Live TV, which automatically comes with Disney+ attached, will get you a front-row seat to “The Devil Wears Prada 2’s” premiere from the comforts of home. Groundbreaking. The subscription service gives new users a three-day free trial, and an ad-equipped plan goes for $89.99 a month once said trial concludes. After seeing familiar faces on the red carpet, be sure to utilize Hulu + Live TV for a much-needed “The Devil Wears Prada” rewatch to brush up on some context (and iconic one-liners) before May 1.

Hulu

Want your free trial to last longer than three days? Hulu (sans Disney+) presents itself as a stellar option, seeing as how the complimentary viewing period here lasts for a month. That’s 30 days of replaying the premiere’s highlight reel, yes, but also of catching up on other fashion-forward entertainment like the “In Vogue” documentary, “Project Runway,” and more. Post-trial, Hulu will cost you $11.99 with ads or $18.99 without them.

What to Expect at ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ World Premiere & Red Carpet

Almost 20 full years ago, the original cast of “The Devil Wears Prada” — a circa-2006 box office sensation that grossed over $320 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo — assembled at Lincoln Center to celebrate the premiere of what would become one of the most-quoted and era-defining movies of the 21st century. On Monday, April 20, they’ll be back where they started as Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, Tucci, Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, and other actors, not to mention director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, unite to usher in Part 2 of the film that took the world by storm.

Also confirmed: the attendance of media and influencers like Haley Kalil, who will helm celebrity interviews and special activations on the carpet before the attendees get settled in their seats for the official screening.

If the cast’s buzzy style choices as of late are any indication, there will be a lot to look at that evening as they pose for pictures — and exchange witticisms — in front of the step and repeat. Judging by their Saint Laurent dresses, $110 heels, and DeMellier handbags, Hathaway and Streep have been on a sartorial hot streak lately: showing up to press events in high-low outfits that left admirers scrambling to find matching (or exact) styles and exemplified some good ol’ method acting.

Who knows, maybe the IRL Andy Sachs will arrive to the premiere in a gown that nods to her character’s more seasoned girlboss status two decades later, with Streep similarly going for a head-turning, editorial-chic aesthetic. Be one of the first to see it all go down in real time by subscribing to Hulu + Live TV — or just Hulu — this weekend.
