Sombr gave the hotel-room fit check a wedding upgrade Friday. For Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s ceremony at Madison Square Garden, the singer danced into frame in a black Kyosuke Kunimoto suit, an ivory ruffled shirt and a red rosette pinned over his heart. “Feeling gorgeous rn,” he captioned the TikTok.
Brandon Tan styled the look, beginning with a single-breasted jacket cut with defined shoulders, narrow notched lapels and a close waist. The button sat low, leaving most of the shirt’s frilled front exposed. Its high collar rose above the jacket, with more ruffles pushing past the sleeves at each wrist. Sombr skipped a tie altogether, instead letting a romantic red rosette serve as a flourish.
Matching trousers stayed narrow through the hips before loosening down the leg into a slight flare. Sombr’s dancing made the proportions clearer: the jacket remained fitted while the trouser hems swung around his shoes.
Kunimoto, a Japanese designer carried exclusively at Maxfield, works mostly within classic suiting proportions, then loosens them through longer lines, flared pants and softer construction. Maxfield describes his clothes as a combination of Japanese craftsmanship and European tailoring, with an emphasis on custom fabrics and small details rather than obvious decoration.
Sombr’s invitation followed a very public endorsement from Swift less than a month earlier. On June 11, he performed “cardigan” and “Dear John” before her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift called it a “perfect performance,” said his songwriting made her envious and declared, “Sombr is the future.” The two were photographed together later that evening.

He wore Valentino to the gala. The Italian house named Sombr a global brand ambassador in February before making him the face of its pre-fall 2026 campaign. Friday brought a different designer, but not a personality transplant: black tailoring, a shirt with plenty going on and one red flower large enough to register through a teasing TikTok.
