Tyla traded the traditional summer nail set for a bold manicure on stage during her “Today” show performance on Friday.
Clad in a Britney Spears-esque ensemble — featuring a coral- and cheetah-print-colored ivy cap, a tethered bra top, torn capris and gladiator stilettos — the Grammy-winning artist opted for navy blue nail beds with rhinestone letters spelling “APOP” across her left hand.

Meanwhile, her right hand boasted only bare blue nail beds, filed square with sharp edges. The set was likely made by celebrity manicurist Coca Michelle, whose A-list client roster also includes Cardi B and North West. WWD has contacted Michelle for confirmation. Michelle imagined the most animated, avant-garde manicures — fashioning multicolored talons with razor teeth, spikes, chains, pearls and more — as well as more toned-down, two-dimensional sets, featuring striped and sea glass-inspired patterns.

Solid blue nails, however, are rapidly becoming the must-have color for mid-summer, with several celebrities sporting different shades in the last week. On Sunday, following the 2026 World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium, Hailey Bieber was spotted with cornflower-colored nails outside the exclusive Skylrk after-party in New York City. Here, she paired the statement-making color with a burgundy lace slip dress, black oval sunglasses, thong sandals and a long bob.

While it’s not unusual for Bieber to sport a non-neutral nail, the plain color choice marked a major deviation from the sparkle-dusted aesthetic, dubbed “glazed doughnut,” that she’s favored for the last few years. That said, Bieber and her manicurist Zola Ganzorigt have recently been loving cool tones and animal prints, styles typically reserved for the winter season.
