Rihanna turned to Maison Margiela for her dramatic red carpet look at the 2026 Met Gala in New York City on Monday night.
The artist’s intricate ensemble came courtesy of the maison’s fall 2025 couture collection. The look featured an allover jewel encrusted, long-sleeve bodice in muted tones of silver and gold, with a skirt and ornamental circular structure of fabric framing the artist.

A$AP Rocky, Rihanna’s longtime partner, opted for his own unique flare. The 2025 Met Gala cochair wore a pink Chanel ensemble, complete with contrasting fabric with sharp black lapels and a long-sleeve, flowing robe-style jacket.

Rihanna has one of the most celebrated Met Gala histories of any attendee. She first attended in 2007 in a Georges Chakra gown and has since built a legacy of on-theme, showstopping looks.
Among the most iconic: a yellow Guo Pei coatdress with an elaborate train at the 2015 “China: Through the Looking Glass” gala; a papal-inspired pearl-and-jewel-encrusted Maison Margiela look for 2018’s “Heavenly Bodies” theme, and an all-white Valentino flower coat at the 2023 “Karl Lagerfeld” gala, which she unbuttoned to reveal a gown and a baby bump, confirming her second pregnancy.

Other notable appearances include a black lace Stella McCartney gown in 2011, a Tom Ford look in 2012, a Stella McCartney white two-piece in 2014, and a Comme des Garçons floral confection at the 2017 gala — one of the few guests to actually wear the honored house.
At the 2025 gala, attended alongside her partner A$AP Rocky, who was serving as a cochair, she announced her third pregnancy in a custom Marc Jacobs look.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event was co-chaired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
