Puma‘s top-end Deviate running line has seen the Deviate Nitro and Deviate Nitro Elite models hit their fourth iterations this year, and the family will soon grow with a new plateless super trainer.
The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro will release in June as the first shoe in the line to feature elevated NitroFoam midsole without a plate. It essentially puts Puma in competition with the Adidas Evo SL and Asics Superblast 3, two max-cushioned standard bearers for speedy workouts.
Forgoing the carbon fiber plate puts the Deviate Pure Nitro at 220 grams for a men’s size 9, 30 grams lighter than its plated-super trainer counterpart in the Deviate Nitro 4. A full NitroFoam midsole will also deliver a more energetic experience than the dual-density arrangement on the the latter shoe.
Beneath that foam comes a PumaGrip outsole widely praised for its traction, and the engineered mesh features a plush collar and padded tongue to offer more comfort and support than you’d find on the Deviate Elite 4 race day shoe.

The result isn’t just a run, it’s an experience of natural speed.”
The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro will release June 4 through Puma’s website and flagships, as well as select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $150.
