New Balance Made in USA 990v4 ‘Blue Crab’ Pack

After delivering a duo of 993 sneaker styles paying homage to the brand’s legacy in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., New Balance is following it up quickly with another regionally themed pack.

This time, it’s a “Blue Crab” set of New Balance 990v4 sneakers that reference the Maryland area’s affinity for the Atlantic Ocean crustacean. The theme is executed over two colorways: Moonbeam/Tangerine Heat/Dried Orange (style code U990MO4) and Moonbeam/Cloud Blue/Magic Blue (style code U990MB4). Both pairs feature matching color blocking with Moonbeam gray suede wrapping the uppers and colored mesh filling in the underlays. Each shoe’s midsole is blocked in a darker hue with the Magic Blue pair getting a navy shade and the Dried Orange pair leaning toward coral. 

Myles Williams, associate product manager of made in USA lifestyle at New Balance, shared an early look at the pack on Instagram. “The story don’t stop there. These are real life experiences of the DMV. These for the ones who joan and crack crabs with they aunties… My Blue Crab Babies! Inspired by Murrrland, built for the community,” Williams wrote, adding that that the colorways were designed by Edward Kim, who’s an associate color designer at New Balance.

The latest Maryland-themed New Balance release comes on the heels of April’s aforementioned “Baltimore vs. D.C” 993 pack. That set included a red colorway inspired by the colors of the Maryland flag and a blue look that took inspiration from a day spent in the nation’s capital. And in 2025, Williams worked on another D.C.-informed pack of sneakers: a 993 “Slow Bounce” duo inspired by go-go music.

This New Balance Made in USA 990v4 Blue Crab pack is already arriving at select retailers and will see an official release from newbalance.com on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET. Retail pricing is set at $185 each.
