Monica Barbaro gave Dior‘s Old Hollywood aesthetic a pared-back variation for the “One Night Only” premiere at New York City’s SVA Theatre on Monday night.

The Oscar-nominated “A Complete Unknown” actress turned to the French luxury fashion house’s 2027 cruise collection for her premiere look, wearing a dress designed by Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson.
The silky cream dress was crafted with a formfitting silhouette, thin straps and slight draping at the neckline for a cowl-neck effect. At the shoulder, a bold off-white floral appliqué with cascading soft blue petals gave the minimalist luxury dress its statement detail.

As for accessories, Barbaro sported a platinum marquise and round diamond ring courtesy of Saidian Vintage jewelry. The actress’ look was curated by stylist Elizabeth Saltzman.
Barbaro’s dress was based on Look 33 from a collection that paid homage to Old Hollywood and gave the design codes of the time period an added dose of fantasy. The collection was “a love letter to Hollywood and the power of dreams and illusion,” Ryma Chikhoune wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

“Old Hollywood echoed throughout the collection and the set, where vintage Cadillacs appeared alongside flashes of shimmer from new versions of the Saddle bag, heels embellished with flowers or feathers, sparkling sunglasses and sequined details,” Chikhoune wrote.
“The influence traced back to Christian Dior’s own relationship with cinema in the 1950s, when the couturier dressed stars including Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich.”

Barbaro has a close relationship with Dior. Following her breakout turn in “A Complete Unknown,” the actress was named an ambassador to the French luxury fashion house, representing the women’s fashion collections.
“Since I was a kid, I was inspired by fashion and its evolution as an art form. Dior has held an iconic place in my imagination. I am so honored to be joining a house that is the gold standard in elegance, craftsmanship and celebration of the feminine,” Barbaro said following her February 2025 appointment.
Barbaro stars alongside Callum Turner in “One Night Only,” which follows New Yorkers Owen and Allie on the one night of the year when sex is legal. The romantic comedy hits theaters Friday.
