Lady Gaga is once again vying for the Television Academy’s favor after receiving her fifth-ever Emmy nomination. In a haul dominated by The Pitt and Hacks, Gaga picked up a nod in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category for “The Dead Dance.” The song for the Tim Burton series Wednesday was co-written by Andrew Watt and Henry Walter Russell, both also nominated. They go up against songs from both The Pitt (that’s Andrew Bird’s “Need Someone”) and Hacks, as well as The Boys, South Park, and Spider-Noir.
Depending on your personal EGOT small print, Gaga has probably bagged her “E” already, having won a 2025 Sports Emmy for her performance of “Hold My Hand” before that year’s Super Bowl. This would be her first win at the main Emmys ceremony, however.
Other music nominations for the 2026 Emmys include one for Raphael Saadiq, who scored the historical docuseries High Horse: The Black Cowboy, and several nods for the music direction, composition, and supervision of Pluribus.
