European military drone procurement platform

New hub aims to speed deployment and improve interoperability across European defense systems

A European defense technology company has introduced a new platform designed to help governments find and deploy unmanned systems more quickly.

Amsterdam-based Intelic announced the launch of Intelic BASE on May 4, 2026. The platform serves as a procurement hub for Ministries of Defense across Europe. It focuses on reducing the time needed to identify and deploy mission-ready drones.

At launch, Intelic BASE connects manufacturers from ten countries. These include France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Portugal, Latvia, Luxembourg, Lithuania, and Czechia. The platform gives governments direct visibility into available systems across the European defense industrial base.

The initiative is being developed with input from several European Ministries of Defense.

A Central Hub for European Drone Capabilities

The platform brings together a group of European partners. Named companies include Acecore Technologies, Airvolute, Avy, Beyond Vision, DeltaQuad, Height Technologies, Highcat, and TAF Industries. These companies represent a wide geographic range and cover several mission types.

Their capabilities include intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), strike systems, and counter-UAS technologies.

The consortium also includes several unnamed Ukrainian partners. These companies cannot be identified for security reasons. Together, they produce more than 100,000 UAVs per month. They generate over $1.5 billion in sales. Their inclusion highlights the scale and experience of Ukraine’s defense industry.

Inspired by Ukraine’s Procurement Model

Intelic BASE is described as the first platform of its kind in Europe. It draws inspiration from procurement models used in Ukraine.

These models allow defense ministries to compare drone systems in one place. This approach reduces the time between identifying a need and deploying a system.

European governments are increasing defense spending in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine. At the same time, procurement processes across Europe remain fragmented. This can slow deployment and limit visibility into available systems.

“Europe already has the industrial capacity and battlefield-proven drone technologies it needs,” said Maurits Korthals Altes, CEO of Intelic. “What has been missing is a shared operational layer that makes those capabilities visible, interoperable and deployable across borders. Strengthening that connection is essential for a stronger Europe.”

Interoperability Built Into the Platform

A key feature of Intelic BASE is its integration with Nexus. Nexus is a shared command-and-control software layer. It allows unmanned systems from different manufacturers to operate together in one mission.

Nexus has been used in operational conditions in Ukraine since 2025. It enables systems from different providers to work as a unified force across mission types.

By addressing interoperability early, the platform aims to reduce integration risks. This can help defense ministries deploy systems faster.

The approach reflects a broader shift in Europe. Governments are placing more focus on coalition operations and shared capabilities.

Supporting a More Connected Defense Ecosystem

Traditional procurement often requires governments to assess vendors one by one. Integration challenges are often addressed later in the process.

Intelic BASE takes a different approach. It allows ministries to explore systems that are already designed for joint operations.

The platform also connects governments directly with manufacturers. It removes intermediaries and reseller layers. This can simplify the procurement process and improve speed.

The result is a more responsive and connected defense ecosystem. It also supports stronger coordination across Europe’s industrial base.

About Intelic

Intelic is a European defense technology company focused on improving cooperation between governments and defense innovators. Its Nexus software provides a platform-agnostic control layer for unmanned systems.

Nexus has been deployed in Ukraine since 2025. Intelic is also expected to become a partner for the Netherlands Armed Forces’ UxV control efforts later this year.
