Dakota Johnson merged an ethereal aesthetic with grandeur in Valentino on Thursday night for the Time 100 Gala in New York City.
The “Materialists” actress turned to the Roman fashion house’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection for her red carpet attire. Johnson, who was named a Valentino ambassador in October 2025, wore a sleeveless gown with fabric draping constructed in a muted tone.

The dress was further augmented by a cape with defined shoulders that flowed to the red carpet and trailed Johnson. Jeweled embellishments featured on the neckline of the cape that grazed the actress’ collar bone.
Along with the dress, Johnson wore Valentino heels to complete her look. The actress accessorized her attire with jewelry by Roberto Coin, a brand for which she also serves as a global brand ambassador. Johnson’s hair was styled by Jacob Rozenberg, with makeup by Misha Shahzada. Award-winning stylist Kate Young curated Johnson’s look.

Designed by creative director Alessandro Michele, Valentino’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection “was perhaps one of the most integrated and harmonized with Valentino Garavani’s own sensitivity and taste, yet adjusted to modern times,” Luisa Zargani wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
A longtime friend of Michele, Johnson’s appointment as an ambassador to Valentino kicked off with a starring role for the brand’s cruise 2026 ad campaign. “Nothing brings me more joy than collaborating with people I love, admire and respect,” Johnson previously told WWD. “I am so grateful and happy to join the Valentino family. Alessandro is one of the most inspiring people I know, and I’m honored to be with him again.”
