Crystal International Advances Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

Crystal International Group is boosting renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The Hong Kong-based apparel and textile manufacturer announced this week that it is partnering with Schneider Electric’s global consulting practice, SE Advisory Services, as part of its commitment to accelerate renewable energy deployment and enhance energy efficiency across its global operations.

Crystal’s product portfolio spans lifestyle, sportswear and outdoor apparel, denim, intimate, sweater, and knitted fabrics. The company operates a multi-country manufacturing platform with more than 20 production facilities in Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Through this partnership with SE Advisory Services, Crystal aims to advance the Group’s Net Zero 2050 ambition by scaling rooftop solar PV and optimizing air-conditioning energy performance.

For solar PV installation, SE Advisory Services has developed a data-driven solar roadmap to assess installable capacity across the firm’s global factories. Crystal reports that it is well positioned to systematically expedite clean energy deployment, building on its existing 24.6MW of installed rooftop solar PV.

Meanwhile, the collaboration also addresses the growing challenge of heat stress through air-conditioning energy performance benchmarking. This will enable the company to identify and implement energy-efficient cooling solutions tailored to specific local factory conditions as it plans future AC expansions and retrofits.

“Joining hands with SE Advisory Services exemplifies our ongoing efforts in decarbonization and our ambition to deliver sustainable, future-ready solutions,” said Catherine Chiu, vice president of corporate quality and sustainability at Crystal International. “With their expertise, we are confident in our ability to effectively balance worker well-being with climate mitigation in achieving resilience.”

The energy projects align with Crystal Sustainability Vision 2030—a plan that covers regenerating nature, resourcing people and revitalizing community. In 2025, the company reported using 40 percent renewable energy across all factories. At its intimate factory, Crystal expanded its rooftop solar installation beyond the contract demand to fully utilize the available rooftop space. Additionally, Crystal’s denim factory installed a 2.09 MW solar system with a regulating device to better utilize the surplus solar electricity that cannot be exported to the grid. The device monitors the overall site power demand and allocates electricity proportionally across workshops.

Crystal previously partnered with electricity-free cooling innovator i2Cool to launch a pilot solar cooling program at two buildings in the company’s lifestyle wear factory in China.
