The Air Jordan 3 appears to be gearing up for a big year just ahead of its 40th anniversary. In addition to new styles for the classic sneaker including a Neo Pink look and a Utility upgrade, one of the most famous colorways of Michael Jordan’s third signature shoe is also headed back to retail shelves in its original form for the first time in more than a decade.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro OG White Cement is set to return next spring with true-to-original details. With a white leather upper, Fire Red Jumpman branding and accents and the sneaker’s iconic gray elephant print overlays, the White Cement Air Jordan 3 is widely praised as one of the top pairs in athletic footwear history.
Not only is the White Cement Air Jordan 3 famous for introducing the Jumpman logo and adding a touch of exotic flair to basketball shoes, but it’s also significant for what Jordan accomplished on the court while wearing it. Most notably, the then-rising Chicago Bulls star wore the colorway during the 1988 NBA dunk contest. After winning the contest in 1987, Jordan took home consecutive trophies after besting rival Dominique Wilkins with an unforgettable dunk from the free-throw line.

Nike, Inc.’s Jordan Brand has referenced Jordan’s free-throw line dunk on a number of White Cement Air Jordan 3 reissues. None were more deliberate than 2018’s “Free Throw Line” iteration, which featured a translucent icy outsole complete with a free-throw line marking on the bottom. The moment was also alluded to on 2013’s Air Jordan 3 Retro ’88, which was released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the contest-winning dunk.
Most recently, the Air Jordan 3 White Cement was released with Jordan Brand’s Reimagined concept in 2023. The ’23 Reimagined version featured pre-yellowed midsoles and details to make the pair appear vintage, but those patina details will reportedly be omitted from the upcoming retro.
After more than a decade since the sneaker was released in its original form, the Air Jordan 3 Retro OG White Cement will return during spring 2027 with a release likely tied to NBA All-Star Weekend. A style code and retail price point for the upcoming pair have not been confirmed, but readers can expect availability from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers globally. While we await in-hand images of the new release, the ’13 iteration appears below courtesy of GOAT.
