Be it through pony hair or textured leather, the spots of a leopard of scales of a snake, animal prints are showing no signs of stopping their takeover of sneakers. Adidas, one of the primary catalysts of the trend through its Wales Bonner collaborations, will soon continue its part with a three-pack of sneakers looking to the pasture.
The Adidas “Cow Print Pack” will see the Taekwondo, Superstar and Japan all take on the print through pony hair uppers. Dark brown spots over white are consistent on the three silhouettes, as are white leather stripes and black leather tongues. Each sneaker has its own individual flourishes, such as the Superstar’s solid black pony hair Shell Toe or the Japan’s gold-tone eyelets on the top rung. The two laced options also get contrast laces in burgundy for the Superstar and lilac for the Tokyo.
Although Engineered Garments and Hoka got a leg up in 2021 with an assortment of Bondi Ls featuring croc-textured leather and cheetah print pony hair, the real kickstarted for the trend came with Wales Bonner’s leopard-print Samba in 2023.
The two collaborators have since followed up with Sambas and other sneakers pulling from across the animal kingdom, and just about every brand has dropped their inline takes since, including another Adidas that kept selling out through restocks last year, as well as more kicks from Hoka, Nike, New Balance, Vans and more.
The Adidas “Cow Print Pack” Taekwondo, Superstar and Japan will all release in August. Pricing has not been confirmed.
