MILAN — Gucci Racing has named Tancredi Vitale its vice president, effective Sept. 1.
Vitale joins the partnership between the Italian luxury brand and the Alpine Formula 1 team from the Venezia Football Club, where he served as managing director.
He has built his career in sports brands ranging from Kappa and Adidas Y-3 with Yohji Yamamoto to Nike and Jordan. Over more than 13 years at Nike’s headquarters in Portland, Ore., he held a series of increasingly senior leadership roles across the organization.
“Vitale’s international experience, strategic vision and deep knowledge of the sports industry will be invaluable as Gucci develops this new venture and unlocks the full potential of Gucci Racing as a global platform,” Gucci said in a statement.
At Gucci Racing, Vitale will work closely with Giovanni Perosino, who will continue to lead this strategic initiative as senior vice president of Gucci Racing, alongside his responsibilities as SVP of marketing at Gucci. Perosino joined Gucci in December from Maserati, where he was global chief marketing officer, and before that worked at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Audi, Lamborghini and ITA Airways.
In May, Gucci revealed it had signed on as title partner of the Alpine Formula 1 Team, which beginning with the 2027 season will compete in Gucci colors under the banner Gucci Racing Alpine Formula 1 Team.
The F1 team partnership represents the first volley for Gucci Racing, “a new business and experiential platform built around the values of performance, precision, discipline and excellence at the intersection of luxury and sport,” the Italian fashion house stated at the time.
The Alpine brand was founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé and has been fully controlled by Renault Group since 1973.
For this reason, the project seems natural for Luca de Meo, who last September joined Gucci parent Kering as chief executive officer from the Renault Group, and who has already recruited several top executives from the automotive industry. During his five-year tenure at Renault, de Meo played a key role in developing Alpine’s Formula 1 program.
The BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team currently ranks fifth in the 2026 Constructors’ Championship.
“Beyond Formula 1, Gucci Racing is envisioned as a platform that will extend across all sports territories, including tennis, winter sports and equestrianism, among others, creating new opportunities to deepen client engagement, elevate client experiences and drive business growth,” Gucci stated.
