New DJI Avata 360 Brings 8K 360-Degree FPV Flying to Creators

DJI today launched the DJI Avata 360, a new 8K 360-degree FPV drone built for immersive aerial content creation. The drone pairs dual 1-inch-equivalent sensors with DJI’s O4+ video transmission and omnidirectional obstacle sensing.

DJI Avata 360 Imaging and Camera Specs

The DJI Avata 360 features two switchable lens modes. The 360-degree lens captures 8K/60fps HDR video and 120 MP photos using 1-inch-equivalent sensors with 2.4 μm pixels. Single Lens mode offers classic Avata-style filming in 4K/60fps. Both video and photos support direct export or post-production reframing.

The drone includes 42 GB of internal storage. That holds roughly 30 minutes of 8K 360-degree video without a microSD card. Wi-Fi 6 High-Speed Transfer moves 1 GB of footage in about 10 seconds.

Flight Performance and Safety

The DJI Avata 360 offers up to 23 minutes of flight time. Nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing and integrated propeller guards come standard. DJI’s O4+ transmission system delivers 1080p/60fps live feeds with a range of up to 20 km. A replaceable front lens element allows field repairs without sending the drone in for service.

Intelligent Flight and Editing Features

DJI built several software features around 360-degree capture. Spotlight Free locks onto a moving subject and replicates professional camera movement. ActiveTrack 360 automatically selects the optimal tracking mode for subjects. FPV mode adds a natural roll effect in post-production. Virtual Gimbal enables infinite rotation and tilt for dynamic camera moves, even while flying in a single direction. GyroFrame allows one-tap angle adjustment and export in the DJI Fly app.

Controller and Accessory Compatibility

Pilots can fly the DJI Avata 360 with DJI remote controllers (RC 2, RC-N2, RC-N3) for precise camera control. DJI goggles and motion controllers deliver an immersive 360-degree FPV experience at 1080p/60fps. The DJI RC Motion 3 supports aerial acrobatics like drifting for beginners and experienced pilots alike.

Like other DJI drones, the DJI Avata 360 is not officially available in the United States via official DJI websites.
