Yang Mi Is Prada’s Newest Brand Ambassador

MI TIME: Chinese actress Yang Mi has been named Prada‘s latest brand ambassador.

The 39-year-old has appeared in around 70 films and television series, her fame propelled by roles in “Chinese Paladin 3” in 2009 and “Eternal Love” in 2017, for example.

In the announcement, Prada highlighted her “nuanced and realistically compelling performance” in this year’s epic drama “This Thriving Land,” which again sparked widespread discussion on Chinese social media.

The Milan brand also took notice of her on-screen expression throughout her career, from the commercially successful “Tiny Times” franchise to her portrayal of Wang Xumei in “She’s Got No Name,” and her acclaimed role as Zheng Yuting in “The Lychee Road.”

“Prada has always held a unique place in my heart. I admire its understated yet unforgettable style, as well as the brand’s unwavering commitment to using design to build its own distinctive language,” Yang said of her appointment.

A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, Yang is no stranger to fashion brands and has been a face of Michael Kors, Versace, Victoria’s Secret and Loewe in recent years.

She is regarded as one of the most successful and highest-paid Chinese actresses. She counts more than 113 million followers on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, and her name has logged over 13.6 billion impressions on China‘s popular social commerce platform Xiaohongshu as of December.

Prada also praised Yang’s dedication to driving social impact within the realm of public welfare, as she has directed societal attention toward issues such as drinking water safety for rural children and rehabilitation support for children with autism.
