Seattle Storm veteran Katie Lou Samuelson has suffered an ACL tear, the team announced on Saturday. The 27-year-old forward signed with the Samuelson in the offseason after spending the 2024 season with the Indiana Fever.
In her five-year career, Samuelson has played for the Chicago Sky, Dallas Wings, Seattle Storm, Los Angeles Sparks, and Fever, averaging 5.9 points per game and 2.5 assists on 38.9% shooting. Fresh off of maternity leave, she saw a diminished role last season — averaging the lowest minutes (18.2) and field goal percentage (34.9%) since her rookie.

Now, the sharpshooter is expected to miss the entirety of the 2025 WNBA season.

Samuelson is the third Storm player who suffered an ACL tear ahead of the season. Jordan Horston and Nika Muhl both tore their ACLs in the offseason, Horston playing for the offseason league Athletes Unlimited and Muhl playing overseas.
Additionally, Washington Mystics draftee Georgia Amoore tore her ACL at training camp; the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft will miss the 2025 WNBA season.
