Willy Chavarria & Sandy Liang Star in DWR Originals Campaign

MILAN — A peek into the homes of fashion designers Willy Chavarria and Sandy Liang has been made available by DWR (Design Within Reach).

In celebration of New York Fashion Week, the home furnishings, accessories and lighting retailer tapped the two for its DWR Originals campaign, which was previewed by WWD on Wednesday and brings together voices shaping modern culture through design.

“These New York-based fashion talents represent a new generation of designers, and the breadth and depth of contemporary originality,” DWR said.

The campaign was directed by Sharif Hamza, a well-known portrait photographer working in fashion.

DWR Originals campaign captured Liang and Chavarria in unscripted moments at their homes in Connecticut and TriBeCa, respectively, as a way to propose new design concepts for modern living.

Liang, who grew up part time in New York City’s Chinatown and often draws influence from her childhood there, is known for her playful runway designs. In a statement, she said her Connecticut home offers a respite, where her ideas have the freedom to flourish. In the campaign she is photographed with iconic pieces like the Womb chair by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen at the USM Haller Media console.

“My home is both a sanctuary for rest and also a place where I can be creative… It’s important to me that my work is something that can be translated into part of someone’s real, everyday life,” Liang said.

Across fashion and design, Chavarria has been lauded for his authenticity. Over the past few years, Chavarria has been honored with Designer of the Year at the Latin American Fashion Awards as well as the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year.

After years of working for a slew of brands including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, American Eagle Outfitters, Yeezy, Dickies Construct and others, the designer is increasingly being recognized for his own collection. He described his TriBeCa home as a vestige of a life lived and his dynamic path.

“It’s very important for me — both in my home and in my workspace — to foster a feeling of love,” he said of this latest collaboration with DWR in which he is photographed with the Eames lounge chair and ottoman designed by American designers Charles and Ray Eames and the Flos Arco lamp, which was designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962. “My home is an amalgamation of my entire life. As I’ve lived, as I’ve traveled, as I’ve moved, I have always brought things along with me that tell the story of my journey.”

It isn’t the first time DWR has taken inspiration from the fashion world. Last year it launched the Paul Smith Collection, which included a selection of classics from American furniture brands Herman Miller and Knoll. Among them were the molded plastic side chair originally designed by American designers Charles and Ray Eames and Saarinen’s Womb chair.

The furnishings photographed in the campaign are shoppable online. This is the second iteration of the Originals project but the first Originals campaign. The first iteration launched in November 2025.

Past Originals include designer and artist Jerald “Coop” Cooper, designer Susan Clark and architect David Chipperfield.
