While many of us have burned hundreds of hours window shopping on Facebook Marketplace, we might have experienced being on the other side of the screen and putting up listings. Wading through potential buyers and complaints about the car up for sale is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. People will hurl thoughtless messages at sellers over literally anything.
We want to know what was the worst experience you’ve had selling a car? What were the minor flaws that every buyer fixated on in the hopes of knocking a couple hundred dollars off the price? Was an anxious prospective buyer wanting to take your car on an odyssey around the neighborhood to see if anything was wrong? Did a car dealership want to literally hand you a nickel and dime on a trade-in?
While rare, people attempt to steal cars during test drives more often than you would think. An incident that caught my attention earlier this year involved a police chase on a Miami highway. A 27-year-old woman testing a 2024 Honda Civic waited for a dealership salesperson to step out of the car and then took off. Police arrested her after she fled on foot and jumped into a lake. However, this only happened after she crashed the Civic between a wall and a semi.
Please let us know if your worst experience selling a car in the comments section below. Hopefully, no one took your car on a high-speed police chase before handing over the cash for the title.
