As many of you know, I recently bought a cheap 2015 Fiat 500e because I wanted something that would get me around town for as little money as possible. It’s tiny, gets terrible range when it’s cold out, and yet, I love it. It does what it advertises, and so far, I haven’t had any real problems. It’s fun to drive, the heated seats work great, and since I don’t have any kids, it’s the perfect size for a guy who would rather be riding a motorcycle. Oh, and I also don’t have to pay for gas.
That said, I recently solved my own male loneliness epidemic, and now, I have someone else to think about. She’s small, so the Fiat’s size isn’t an issue, and it’s actually very spacious if you don’t need the back seat, but I get the feeling I’m eventually going to need something that doesn’t have the 500e’s range limitations and isn’t a motorcycle. To be clear, I’m not planning to sell my car less than two months after buying it. I’m just aware that it probably isn’t a true long-term solution.
Unfortunately for me, I have absolutely no idea what I would replace it with even if I did decide to go ahead and sell it. There are just too many options, and I only recently went through the nightmare that is car shopping. Thinking seriously about shopping for a car again would be too much. Plus, the way EVs depreciate, something I can’t afford now could show up in my price range six months from now.
So instead of focusing on my quest for the perfect garage, let’s talk about the cars that you’re looking at buying this year. Are you upgrading? Downsizing? Swapping a sports car for a minivan?
