With one final wave of the checkered flag, the 2024 Formula 1 season will come to an end on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, what did you think to it? Sure, Max Verstappen clinched a fourth title with little competition, but drama elsewhere on the grid made it quite an entertaining year. But was it one of the best?
That’s what we want to find out today, so we’re asking you for your picks for the greatest Formula 1 seasons of all time: what have you got?
Maybe you still haven’t gotten over the drama that was 2021, when Verstappen was fighting for his first world title against reigning champ Lewis Hamilton and drama seemed to erupt at every corner. Or perhaps you long for the V8-powered season of 2006, when a young Fernando Alonso was scrapping against Michael Schumacher at every opportunity.
Your love for the sport might go further back and you still haven’t gotten over the 1985 season when seven world champions all lined up on the grid alongside one another. What a year.
Personally, I’ll always love 2009. It was one of the first that I got really into and packed everything a good Formula 1 season should have: a truly entertaining title fight, great liveries up and down the grid, roaring V8s and an absolute ton of off-track drama. Who can forget Jenson Button’s world title win with Brawn GP, or all the bickering that went on while the teams threatened to quit and start their own championship?
But that’s just my pick, what year would you say was a true great for Formula 1? Head to the comments section below to let us know your choice for the greatest F1 season of all time and we’ll round up some of the best in a slideshow on Monday.
