Love it or loathe it, cutting-edge technology is working its way into almost every aspect of driving. There’s new safety tech to keep you in lane, modern infotainment systems that keep everything just a touchscreen away and even the way we change gears has been transformed. But not all this tech is good tech, and today we want to uncover some of the modern features that you could happily do without.

Today, we’re turning to you and asking what is the useless car tech that you would like to see the back of? So, what have you got?

Maybe you’ve had enough of the never-ending migration of vehicular controls away from physical buttons and onto gargantuan screens on your center console. Or perhaps you’re sick to the back teeth of aggressive lane-keeping tech that fights you when you attempt to merge onto the highway. Whatever irritating technology it is that’s been grinding your gears lately, we want to hear all about it.

Personally, I’d like to see an end to every electronic opening you find in modern cars. Sure, electric trunks and cubbies provide easy access for those with any kind of mobility impairment, but they’re pretty annoying 90 percent of the time. Electric doors are just a nightmare thanks to the high chance of damage you face when someone who’s not expecting it to be electric forces it open, and slow-opening electric trunks aren’t worth waiting for. Plus, don’t even get me started on electric glove compartments that are controlled by your car’s touchscreen

But that’s just my pick for the latest car tech that I’d rather do without, what would you opt for? Head to the comments section below and let us know your picks for the useless car tech that you would happily live without. We’ll round up some of the best suggestions in a slideshow next week.
