The 2026 Golden Globes nominations featured a bevy of past nominees and winners, from Emma Stone to Jennifer Lawrence, Cynthia Erivo and more. Those stars, among others, have graced the official kick-off to awards season for years, and WWD is looking back at each of their respective red carpet debuts.
From designs by Thom Browne to Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein Collection, these past nominees and winners scoured the runways and vintage couture for their respective looks through the years. Ahead, WWD breaks down the looks worn by the 2026 film nominees at their first Golden Globes.
Jennifer Lawrence

For her first Golden Globes red carpet in 2011, Lawrence wore a black gown by Louis Vuitton. The dress featured thick straps and a bevy of ruched black and gray fabric with a fitted bodice, defined waist and flowing skirt. Lawrence received her first Golden Globes nomination for her performance in “Winter’s Bone” and is nominated at the 2026 show for “Die My Love.”
Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts wholly channeled menswear in her suited attire at the Golden Globes in 1990. Like her fellow Golden Globe winner Roberts, Amy Madigan wore quintessential ’90s attire, including a black coordinated set and red collared shirt, for her 1990 Golden Globes appearance. The actress won her first Golden Globe award for “Roe v. Wade” and is nominated in 2026 for “Weapons.”
Hosted by Nikki Glaser, the 2026 Golden Globe Awards will honor the best of film and TV from 2025. “One Battle After Another” leads with the most film nominations, with nine nods, while “The White Lotus” earned six nominations in TV categories. The 2026 Golden Globes kick off on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
