As arrivals for the 2025 BAFTAs roll in, WWD is looking back at what this year’s nominees wore to their very first ceremony.
Cynthia Erivo and Colman Domingo are up for their second awards at the “British Oscars” for their critically acclaimed performances in “Wicked” and “Sing Sing,” respectively, while Timothée Chalamet has racked up his fourth nomination for playing Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.”

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet attended the 2018 BAFTAs in a velvet suit designed by Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello. Featuring satin trim, the actor added on a crisp white button-up and patent leather Oxfords.
Chalamet, who is nominated for Leading Actor for “A Complete Unknown” this year, was up for the same award for “Call Me By Your Name.”
Colman Domingo

Domingo attended his first BAFTAs last year after “Rustin” earned him a nod for Leading Actor. In 2025, he’s nominated in the same category for his starring role in “Sing Sing.”
At Domingo’s debut ceremony, he sported a custom Boss suit consisting of a navy moiré satin blazer with bold shoulders and wide-leg pleated trousers. An Omega timepiece completed his look, as well as a platinum and 18-karat gold Tiffany & Co. brooch encrusted with six carats of diamonds.
Cynthia Erivo

At the 2019 BAFTAs, Erivo was nominated for the Rising Star Award for her role in “Widows.” The actress walked the red carpet in a beige strapless Vera Wang ballgown featuring a voluminous tulle skirt.
Lined with violet fabric, Erivo matched it to her lavender tresses, which were styled in a tousled fishtail braid. This year, her performance as Elphaba in “Wicked” has scored her a nomination for Leading Actress.
Felicity Jones

Felicity Jones opted for a vintage look at her first BAFTAs, which she attended in 2011. Her tea-length tulle black dress, dating back to the 1950s, featured velvet straps.
She accessorized with a satin clutch and pair of crystallized open-toe Jimmy Choo heels. At the 2025 ceremony, Jones is up for her second BAFTA: Supporting Actress for “The Brutalist.”
Saoirse Ronan

At her first BAFTAs in 2010, Saoirse Ronan wore a strapless Burberry dress based on a design from the label’s spring 2008 collection. She accessorized her white ruffled frock with a gray belt, metallic open-toe heels and layered bangles.
That year, Ronan was nominated for Leading Actress for “The Lovely Bones,” while in 2025, she’s up for the same award for her role in “The Outrun.”
