Hot on the heels of her extravagant performance at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga was the musical guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on September 8. Wearing a black dress for this quieter performance, Gaga played piano with a guitar duo backing her for a sparse, ballad-style rendition of “Vanish Into You,” a dance-pop anthem from Mayhem. Lady Gaga was the most nominated artist at last night’s VMAs, with 12 nods in total. She won Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration (for her Bruno Mars duet “Die With a Smile”) and Best Direction and Best Art Direction for “Abracadabra,” but ultimately lost in the Video of the Year category to Ariana Grande’s “Brighter Days Ahead.” She also performed “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance,” her new single for Netflix’s Wednesday, during the program.
Mayhem is Gaga’s first album in five years. She’s currently on the road in support of the LP, performing in major arenas as part of her North American tour. After finishing up that leg in Toronto and Chicago, she will bring the gothic live show to Europe and Australia on through the end of the year.
