Want to buy an F1 car?

Have you ever wanted to buy a Formula 1 car before it even hits the track?

Well, now you have your chance … provided you can get to Abu Dhabi this December.

McLaren Racing announced a “first-of-its-kind” auction in collaboration with RM Sotheby’s, in which prospective buyers can purchase a trio of future competition cars at an auction in Abu Dhabi on December 5, the weekend of the final race of the 2025 F1 season.

The sale will feature not only an F1 car that the team will run in the 2026 campaign, but also an IndyCar that the team will use next season and one of McLaren’s FIA World Endurance Championship challengers, as the team rejoins that series in 2027.

The move into the WEC comes as McLaren looks to secure the triple crown of motorsport: The Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. To date, McLaren is the only team to have won all three events, first winning the Indianapolis 500 in 1976, then the Monaco GP in 1984, and finally the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1995.

McLaren also won the most recent installment of the Monaco Grand Prix, with Lando Norris taking the victory this past May.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown announced the auction at Monterey Car Week in California, where both a McLaren F1 Team car as well as an Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team show car were on display.

“This auction is an extraordinary opportunity to own a piece of racing history and bid for a car that has competed on track before its official launch,” said Brown in a statement. “The Triple Crown is a huge part of our heritage and we are determined to claim it once again as we prepare for our 2027 entry into the World Endurance Championship. Not only that, these incredible cars will come with unprecedented VIP access to the team and action on track.”

According to the team, the auction marks a “historic moment,” as it is the first time a future F1 car has been auctioned before it sees the track.

Good luck, everyone.
