Tyler Allgeier start or sit: Week 3 fantasy football advice

The Atlanta Falcons absolutely ran over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night, as Bijan Robinson ran the ball 22 times for 143 yards, while Tyler Allgeier rushed 16 times for 76 yards and a touchdown. We can’t always count on JJ McCarthy giving the opposition absolutely no offense, but we do know the team still wants Allgeier involved as a rushing threat despite Robinson leading the way.

Below, we’ll go over Tyler Allgeier’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons, RB, Tyler Allgeier

The Falcons head to Charlotte to take on the Panthers this week. Carolina has lost both their games, while Bryce Young has looked both good and bad depending on when you turn the TV on. But overall, they’ve played the Jaguars and Cardinals and averaged just 16 points through those games. Vegas has the Falcons as 5.5-favorites on the road, so they’re pretty confident in their ability to win this one.

As long as the Falcons can get out to a lead, they can continue to run the ball and that is the best case scenario for Allgeier. He did see 10 rushing attempts in a back and forth game against the Buccaneers in Week 1, so he doesn’t disappear when the Falcons are trailing, but we saw him thrive with a big lead on Monday night.

This game also has a Panthers run defense that continues to be below average, giving Allgeier more bang for his buck on each touch.

Start or sit in Week 3 PPR leagues?

Sit. For a player we can’t guarantee a big workload, I would want him to at least get some work in the passing game to play in full point PPR leagues. He would have to have a touchdown to be usable.

Start or sit in Week 3 standard leagues?

Start. When you aren’t competing with running backs who get a point for a one-yard reception, it makes it much easier to put up startable fantasy numbers in relation. So a 10 carry, 50+ yard day doesn’t hurt you nearly as much in standard as it would in PPR. Then add in touchdown upside, and Allgeier makes for a flex start this week in standard.
