Travis Barker Drives Vans Shoe Car Through Santa Monica

Travis Barker hosted his Run Travis Run event, a 5K and wellness experience, in Los Angeles on Sunday, but he also did a bit of driving through Santa Monica, Calif. He didn’t drive just any car, though; he drove a shoe car.

Barker, who is a Vans collaborator, drove a car modeled after a black and white checkered high-top sneaker from the skateboarding-focused brand. Some of the squares were emblazoned with the Run Travis Run logo, fusing his footwear ambassadorship with his athletic/wellness endeavor. The 2025 Run Travis Run Hit the Pavement Tour previously took place in Chicago on Sept. 20, Palm Desert, Calif., on Oct. 5 and Las Vegas on Oct. 18.

Barker’s first collaboration with Vans hit the market in October. The drummer personally designed the Vans x Travis Barker Old Skool style, which showcases the embroidered “Dues Paid” emblem on the toes (one word on each vamp), a mantra mirroring his determination and the legacy he’s earned thanks to unyielding perseverance. Additional design elements include barbed wire foxing, an oil-stained toe bumper and boombox artwork. The artist’s name is featured at the heels, with “Travis” on one shoe and “Barker” on the other. Barker is a longtime Vans lover — he’s known to wear the brand’s shoes on stage — and has previously starred in the Vans x FTP campaign.

The collaborative shoe style by Vans and Barker released in black on vans.com on Oct. 23, and 50 pairs dropped at the Vans store at The Grove in Los Angeles. As of publication on Monday, the black sneaker is sold out in all sizes on vans.com, which notes that 2,493 people recently purchased it.

The Vans x Travis Barker collaboration was lensed by photographer and brand curator Atiba Jefferson; in addition to Barker, the campaign features New York skateboarder Ben Kadow. The audio track “Dues Paid,” written and produced by Barker, was created just for the partnership. Looking ahead, Vans and Barker will release more options across footwear; a second drop is slated for 2026.

Barker isn’t Vans’ only celebrity musician partner. SZA was tapped to serve as the brand’s first creative director. The multiyear partnership was announced in August.
