Game day update: Tony Pollard is expected to be able to play, per Ian Rapoport. Adam Schefter is reporting the same thing.
The Tennessee Titans are playing for draft positioning to close out the 2024 NFL season, but in Week 16 they have a chance to play spoiler against the Indianapolis Colts. They’ll enter the game with a banged-up Tony Pollard, who is uncertain for the game due to an ankle injury.
Tony Pollard injury status
Pollard has been dealing with the ankle injury the past two weeks. He was questionable a week ago after missing two practices, but he ended up playing and rushed for 45 yards and one touchdown. He aggravated the injury and sat out most of the fourth quarter of the game. This week, he sat out all three practices and was listed as questionable on the final injury report. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET, which means we’ll learn his game status at 11:30 a.m.
Tony Pollard fantasy football impact
The 1 p.m. start means you will know before the bulk of the games if Pollard will be available for your fantasy football lineups. The biggest concern if he’s active is if he aggravates the injury. We’ve seen plenty of instances where a questionable player was active and then left the game after a couple snaps, or even didn’t play at all.
If Pollard is active, he’s got solid upside against the Colts, but plenty of downside. He’s worth a start if active and you don’t have a comparable option. But if you have another running back (or other position for a flex spot) that is remotely comparable, the injury suggests considering your alternatives.
If Pollard is inactive, Tyjae Spears would get the start. He’s a strong start in PPR leagues, leading the team with 87 receiving yards and a touchdown last week. He’s a lesser but still solid option in standard leagues if he gets the start.
