Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red Line Expands Into Polo Shirts

Tiger Woods knows a thing or two about golf polos. And now, he’s brought that knowledge to his Sun Day Red collection which will be launch a line of polos today.

The 14 classic-fit shirts will be part of the Sun Day Red Heritage line and have been designed to maximize the swing radius, resulting in a blend of both a slim and roomy fit.

Woods wanted the tail of the shirt to be slightly longer in the back to allow it to be tucked in without being bulky. The polos are also intended to be worn with Sun Day Red’s Dynam pants that have a silicone banded waistband that will help the shirt to remain tucked in — a requisite on many golf courses.

The shirts are made from polyester-spandex fabrics which offer stretch and prevent water absorption. And they feature collar stays that will keep the shirts positioned properly on the neck. Pearl buttons are used and the top button is placed so that it can be left undone.

Tiger Woods tested all the polos in the Sun Day Red collection.

Throughout the process, Woods tested multiple versions of the shirt to achieve the ideal balance of lightweight and absorbency to adapt to different playing conditions, such as heat and humidity or cooler weather, the company said.

The collection includes 14 designs, all of which will bear the Sun Day Red logo, a leaping tiger with 15 stripes, a reference the number of majors Woods has won during his career. The shirts will retail for $115.

Woods launched his brand, Sun Day Red, to the public in May after cutting ties with Nike after 27 years. His collection, which is being designed and marketed in partnership with TaylorMade, was billed as an “athluxury” line of golf, training and lifestyle apparel and accessories available exclusively on the brand’s e-commerce site, SunDayRed.com. It launched with a tight collection of menswear with plans to offer womenswear, footwear and kids collections in the future.
