It’s no secret that Kevin Kisner has a tremendous sense of humor. Tiger Woods has a pretty good one, too, and both of them were on full display during Monday’s TGL match.
Before facing Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, and Keegan Bradley of Boston Common Golf Club, a camera caught Woods hollering over to his mother, Kultida, during his warm-up.
“Hi, Mom!” Woods yelled.
“Not gonna suck tonight! Okay?”
The last time Woods played in a TGL match, his Jupiter Links Golf Club suffered a blowout loss to Los Angeles, 12-to-1. The 15-time major winner looked rusty, but so did Kisner and Max Homa, his two teammates that night. Despite that, Jupiter’s debut match is probably best remembered for Kisner’s shank out of the bunker, not the final score. Kisner’s clank off the flagstick had Woods laughing as hard as anyone had seen him, all while his team faced a massive deficit on the scoreboard.
That explains why Woods told his mother that his team would fare better this time — and that they did. Jupiter Links defeated Boston Common in overtime to secure their first-ever TGL victory.
But what changed between their debut match two weeks ago and this past Monday night?
Kisner may have given the world the answer early on during the match:
“Tiger made me work out with him pre-match, and that was the first workout in 2025,” Kisner joked.
“So I feel good, baby. I’m jazzed… I haven’t had a penalty shot yet so that’s the most impressive so far for me.”
Kisner struggled mightily during the first match, hitting a few shots into the penalty area during his debut. But the former PGA Tour winner turned NBC Sports analyst turned in a much better performance against Boston.
