The North Face, Comme des Garçons Launch Second Collaboration

The North Face is once again teaming up with Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons on an exclusive collection that blends outdoor functionality with classic design.

This collaboration “is a celebration of exploration and expression, bringing together the best of both brands to create a line with a focus on high-performance materials and sophisticated design,” the companies said.

Comme des Garçons, which means “like the boys” in French, is known for its deconstructed avant-garde looks and gender-bending styles. The brand was founded by designer Rei Kawakubo in 1969 and added the CDG line in 2018. Kawakubo and her business and life partner Adrian Joffe are also the duo behind Dover Street Market.

The North Face, which is a division of VF Outdoor, launched in 1966 and outfits athletes for their outdoor adventures. Over the years, it has teamed up with the artist Kaws, Gucci, Jun Takahashi of Undercover and many more.

The North Face x CDG collection will feature six pieces, a North Dome Wind Jacket that will retail for $275; a Belay Liner Jacket for $350; a North Dome Pullover Fleece for $225; a short-sleeve T-shirt for $75; a long-sleeve T-shirt for $85 and a packable ripstop bucket hat for $65. The collection will be available online on both brands’ e-commerce sites as well as at Dover Street Market stores and website and other select retail locations.

Last August, the two companies unveiled their first collaboration that included the avant-garde fashion brand’s tag lines — “Wear Your Freedom” and “My Energy Comes From Freedom” — on a variety of outdoor-inspired pieces such as fleece jackets, vests and pants.
