It is the week of Christmas which means presents and treats are hopefully all over the place for you. We are counting down the final days of 2025 as a calendar year, but before they fully end we will begin an entire new journey in Season 2 of TGL.
TGL’s opening match is set to take place on Sunday, December 28th and is a rematch of last season’s finals between New York Golf Club and the defending champions in Atlanta Drive GC. You can watch at 3pm ET on ABC and when you do you will be treated to some serious innovations across the entire campaign.
Much of the fanfare has been made about TGL’s larger green complex and their expanded catalog of holes. Ultimately the intent is to heighten the risk/reward proposition that players face which makes for the most fun for viewers of the league.
On the subject of new holes, last week The Bay Golf Club announced The Bay Breaker as one of them, one they designed themselves. It is a first-of-its-kind tribute hole that pays homage to the Bay Area and its iconic landscapes.
Season 2 will also bring some new dynamics from a broadcast and presentation standpoint. TGL’s new shot comparison graphics are using Virtual Eye technology to display the context of what is happening within its digital realm. What’s more is that through their 79 cameras on hand TGL has all sorts of abilities, including through slow-motion, to unveil what is happening as it is in its process.
Something notable about the in-arena presentation of TGL this year is that every audience member will receive a complimentary set of wireless earbuds, courtesy of Farmers Insurance, that will allow them to listen to an audio feed from either SiriusXM or ESPN. That is a very cool little detail that the organization is getting right. Taking care of those little things on top of the big things appears to be their specialty.
