The Tesla Cybertruck has been a menace on America’s roads ever since it finally went on sale late last year. The angular electric vehicle has been causing a ruckus in Maine, has been bricked by car washes and has failed at basic truck stuff. Now, one budding car modder has uncovered a neat way to make the truck instantly less offensive: googly eyes.
Here at Jalopnik, we’re all for modifying our cars to make them perform better, look nicer and stand out from the crowd. Now, we’ve uncovered a quick fix that makes the Cybertruck more likable, and it requires nothing more than a set of cheap googly eyes.
Once strapped to the front of the Cybertruck, the eyes take the behemoth from looking like an angular monstrosity, to looking like a charming angular monstrosity. They give it some personality and make it look a bit less like it’s out to get every pedestrian nearby.
The easy trick was brought to our attention by the folks over at Futurism, who uncovered a Tesla Cybertruck owner who applied googly eyes to his truck. The owner, who goes by the name of @timmerenginerd on Twitter X, simply picked up a set of giant googly eyes on Amazon and went to town on their truck. As Futurism notes:
If you were wondering how you might make your $100,000 Tesla Cybertruck look less like a grill on wheels and more like silly cyberpunk goose, a solution has emerged: googly eyes.
Yes, googly eyes. According to the internet, Cybertruck owners are slowly but surely figuring out that slapping a goofy pair of extra-large crafting eyeballs is, without question, the best way to decorate their stainless steel vehicles.
The googly eyes were trialed in a few different locations, as you can see from the Tweet below. Personally, I prefer them placed on either side of the flattest face of the Cybertruck’s front end. Popping them in the middle makes them look a bit too much like a nose, while on the angled corners seems a little off.
What do you think? If you were putting googly eyes on a Cybertruck where would you position them? Do they belong on the front end, or should they be propped on the massive windshield as the eyes appear in Disney’s “Cars?”
Wherever you decide they belong, there are few who would argue that this isn’t a dramatic improvement on the design of the Cybertruck. It once again proves that googly eyes can improve any mode of transport. They also give the truck a lovable look, rather than the aggressive appearance that accessories like Jeep’s angry eyes offer.
