Super Bowl 2026 first touchdown: A.J. Barner is first player to reach the end zone at Levi’s Stadium

The Seattle Seahawks finally got the first touchdown on the board. Sam Darnold found wide open tight end A.J. Barner in the end zone to give the Seahawks a 19-0 lead at the 13:24 mark of the fourth quarter.

The game had been a defensive battle, but it felt like the Seahawks were regularly on the verge of breaking through. Kenneth Walker III and Cooper Kupp were both having solid games, but it was Barner who scored the first touchdown.

Jason Myers had been the lone scorer in this game, converting four separate field goals. He or punter Michael Dickson might have had a shot at MVP, but with the score breaking open a bit more, it’s going to be interesting to see how this MVP vote splits. Walker has 131 total yards as of the touchdown and that might be enough to take home the award.

Prior to the game, FanDuel Sportsbook had installed Barner as +1300 to be the first touchdown scorer. Walker had the top odds at +390.

Here’s some video of the Barner’s touchdown catch:
