MILAN — Stone Island is doubling down on its research-intensive ethos by unveiling a denim capsule collection embedded with high-tech treatments and materials.
Dubbed Denim Research, the fall 2025 lineup dropping on Thursday aims to shed light on the material that has been part of Stone Island’s collections since 1984, when the brand’s founder Massimo Osti introduced it. In 2001, under Paul Harvey’s creative direction, denim got a dedicated branding, while it was most recently incorporated in seasonal collections.
“Denim has played an important part in Stone Island’s history and archive, which makes this introduction of our new Denim Research line and badge significant for our community,” said Robert Triefus, chief executive officer of the Moncler Group-owned Stone Island.
“It represents a continuation of Stone Island’s commitment toward exploring the full potential of denim through material and aesthetic innovation,” he said.
With a dedicated ad campaign fronted by Clint 419, the founder of steetwear brand Corteiz, and Italian actor Alessandro Borghi, the collection is comprised of about 18 looks spanning outerwear, overshirts, utility vests, jeans and carpenter denim pants. Each garment comes with a dedicated black badge with a blue compass logo, as well as nickel shank badge buttons.

Among the innovations and high-tech ingredients, the collection includes proprietary materials such as Polypropylene Denim, a lightweight blend of propylene yarns giving color brilliance and indigo-dyed cotton; the David Light Nylon Indigo-TC, a lightweight denim canvas crafted from Japanese poly yarns, garment-dyed and treated with an anti-drop agent; the Hollow Fiber Nylon Indigo-TC treated with Stone Island’s proprietary corrosion treatment for a lived-in look; the Micro Corduroy lineup of indigo-dyed cotton and white polyester blends defined by a ridged texture; as well as the more traditional Bull Denim-TC, Selvedge Indigo Denim and Stretch Denim fabrics boasting different treatments, including regular and light rinse, as well as raw denim.
The collection prelaunched with a dedicated pop-up at Tokyo’s department store Isetan Shinjuku and rolls out internationally starting Thursday at the brand’s flagships, retail partners and on the brand’s e-commerce site. Prices range from 295 to 1,450 euros.
