Unrivaled, the new professional 3-on-3 women’s basketball league co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is wrapping up its inaugural season in Miami. The league promises the highest average salary of any women’s professional sports league, in addition to offering players equity and revenue sharing.
And, the day after its final regular season game, the league announced its latest high-profile investor: Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.

Curry is the latest in a long list of investors to support the upstart league, a list that includes Alex Morgan and Trybe Ventures, Carmelo Anthony, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Coco Gauff, Michael Phelps, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, The Berman Family, Ann Sarnoff, Dawn Staley, Geno Auriemma, David Levy, John Skipper, Moira Forbes, Tyus and Tre Jones, Dan Rosensweig, and Gary Vaynerchuk, among others.
In December, Unrivaled announced an oversubscribed, $28 million Series A investment round, in which Curry’s investment was included. Prior to that, Unrivaled raised a $7 million seed round, totaling $35 million for the league to-date.
Steph Curry has long been a proponent of women’s basketball
The 11-time NBA All-Star signed South Carolina star MiLaysia Fulwiley to Under Armour’s Curry Brand, and became the first NBA player to compete against a WNBA player in last year’s Steph vs Sabrina Three-Point Contest at All-Star weekend.
“For MiLaysia, the way she carries herself — she’s a basketball player on and off the court,” Curry said at NBA All-Star weekend, per Natalie Esquire. We see a lot of potential in her. She believes in what we’re doing. She’s been to my camps, obviously in South Carolina doing amazing things, winning a championship in her freshman year… as you build out your roster you want to have good people.”
Earlier this week, the NBA star also announced he’d be returning to his alma mater, Davidson, to serve as the assistant general manager of both the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Unrivaled has had a successful inaugural season
The new league boasted more than 40 WNBA standouts, a list of stars that includes Ionescu, Collier, Stewart, Angel Reese, Brittney Griner, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, and dozens of others. The league put up its biggest viewership numbers for its 1-on-1 tournament, bringing in 377,000 viewers, and has since eclipsed 200,000 viewers six times, per Sportico.
The total salary pool for players is $8 million, with the average salary coming in at $222,222.
Postseason action will begin on Sunday, March 16th, and conclude the following night.
