Sprayground Launches First-ever Snow Boots

Sprayground, the travel fashion and designer backpack brand, is expanding into the winter category with the launch of Arctic Boots.

The shoes were inspired by founder David Ben-David‘s creation of an outdoor, camping-friendly bag called Sky High Seekers. The designer made more accessories to accompany it like a winter coat and ski goggles.

“I thought, how cool would it be if we made some boots too? Because when we were styling the shoot a year ago, I’m like, ‘Why did I use other people’s boots, I’m gonna make my own,’” Ben-David told FN.

Featuring the brand’s signature teeth-baring shark mouth at the heel, the shoes are crafted with 50 percent nylon panels, reinforced cow leather accents and a white EVA midsole offering support. There’s also a waterproof mesh lining to help keep feet dry and a black rubber outsole to provide traction. The boots retail for $200.

Of the origin of the shark mouth design, Ben-David said, “I like travel, I like the sky, like the ocean. I love animals. And it’s really that the shark mouth comes from that whole being tough, being that powerhouse, just that rawness to it. When I first designed it, I don’t know, in 2010, when I first drew the shark mouth, I just loved how it kind of flowed freely over the backpack. Because you’ll see a lot of my designs, it plays with those shapes. And I’ll do stacks of money or other organic shapes, and on how they use the curvatures of the bags.”

This isn’t the brand’s first foray into footwear. Sprayground previously created boots as part of a collaboration with a division of the Colombian government promoting Made in Colombia products.

Next up in Sprayground’s footwear category is sneakers, something Ben-David has been asked about many times. The founder recalled that the brand, which turns 16 this year, began with the strategy of selling bags to sneaker boutiques, which at the time typically exclusively sold shoes; his concept was well-received.

“And now fast forward, years later, now stores are asking us, ‘Hey, what if you made sneakers?’” Ben-David said. “We sell to hundreds, if not thousands, of sneaker boutiques and stores around the world. And so many of them are asking us. So I’m developing sneakers, and they’ll launch this summer.”

Sprayground’s sneaker realm will likely kick off with three to five styles and maintain the brand’s limited-edition ethos, creating an air of exclusivity around the products.

In other news from Sprayground, the brand released a capsule collection for London Fashion Week in 2025 and, in 2024, collaborated with The Met on an art-inspired collection.
