Next-generation drones focus on precision, durability, and operator experience
WISPR Systems has announced the launch of the SkyScout 2 and SkyScout 2+, the latest evolution of its flagship drone platform. Developed with input from professionals in surveying, mapping, and inspection, the new models deliver increased performance, resilience, and operator control. The announcement highlights the company’s focus on advancing American-made drone technology while maintaining reliability for commercial applications.
Features Designed for Demanding Operations
The SkyScout 2 introduces a series of upgrades aimed at improving safety and efficiency. John McArthur, VP of sales and marketing at WISPR Systems, said, “SkyScout 2 represents a leap forward in precision drone technology. From advanced collision avoidance to IP-tested durability and robust health monitoring, these upgrades give professionals the confidence to fly further, safer and more efficiently.”
Key enhancements include:
-
S Port quick-attach system for streamlined payload integration and an increased payload capacity of 3.65 lbs. (1.65 kg) without reducing flight time.
-
TempGuard Dynamic Climate Control to regulate airflow, keeping components at peak temperature in extreme conditions.
-
SmartCore Smart Power Distribution System, providing redundant management and battery protection for safer power delivery.
-
Precision Terrain Follow with TerrainSense, offering improved altitude accuracy and reliable low-altitude guidance where GPS may fail.
-
PathGuard Long Range Obstacle Detection, with front and rear sensors covering up to 164 feet for enhanced flight safety.
-
SignalShield Advanced EMI Protection, reducing interference risks near power lines, cell towers, and similar environments.
Operator Experience with SkyScout 2+
In addition to the upgrades included in the SkyScout 2, the SkyScout 2+ introduces the new WISPR SkyBoss smart controller. The SkyBoss features a 7-inch, 2000-nit sunlight-readable display in a rugged design meeting MIL-STD-810 drop standards and IP55 weather protection. It also offers AES-256 encrypted transmission, multiple roll wheels, hot-swappable batteries, and up to six hours of runtime.
“With SkyScout 2+, we wanted to reimagine not only the aircraft but the operator experience,” McArthur said. “Our new controller, the WISPR SkyBoss, empowers professionals to work faster, longer and with the confidence that only WISPR innovation can provide.”
Availability
The SkyScout 2 is available now, while the SkyScout 2+ will be available in early October through WISPR Systems and its authorized distributors.
