Sharper Shape experiences record growth in 2024 with 10,000 miles of T&D line data analyzed and new contracts – sUAS News

Sharper Shape, a leader in T&D utility asset management and grid resiliency solutions, celebrates a year of record achievements in 2024. From advancing groundbreaking technologies to forging key partnerships with clients, the company has continued to make a significant impact in supporting transmission and distribution utilities across the United States.

This year, Sharper Shape secured significant contracts with three major investor-owned utilities (IOUs) in the Western United States and two IOUs headquartered in the Northeast. The company further cemented its reputation as a trusted partner by assisting numerous drone service providers (DSPs) in acquiring essential utility asset data, supporting their efforts to modernize and maintain critical infrastructure.

In addition to securing new customer contracts, Sharper Shape deepened its relationships with ongoing customers, including supporting PG&E’s successful application for a multi-million-dollar matching grant under the Department of Energy’s Grid Resiliency and Innovation Partnership (GRIP) Program.

Furthermore, in an exceptional year for the businesses data collection services, Sharper Shape collected and processed over 10,000 miles of LiDAR data on transmission and distribution networks in 2024, leveraging cutting-edge technology for enhanced grid management.

This was complemented by the launch of Asset Insights. Powered by AI algorithms, Asset Insights identifies defects and anomalies, driving greater efficiency and reliability for utility operations. This, when coupled with the company’s CORE (Cloud-Based Remote Evaluation) technology, is reshaping how utilities approach asset management, offering unprecedented levels of insight and operational control.

Steven Hansen, Chief Finance Officer at Sharper Shape said: “2024 has been a pivotal year for the business, with a strategic focus on software and product development. Looking ahead to 2025, Sharper Shape’s top priority is to expand the customer base for our CORE platform. With the integration of Asset Insights and our advanced AI and machine learning capabilities, CORE is poised to deliver enhanced utility efficiency, optimized asset management and improved grid reliability.

“We remain committed to empowering utilities, including investor owned and cooperative utilities, as well as drone service providers, with innovative solutions that drive resilience, sustainability and operational excellence.”
