Shakira added her name to the growing roster of celebrities embracing slouchy boots, arriving at the Global Citizen Festival in Manhattan on Saturday in a knee-high leather pair with a subtle surprise.
Her style came in black leather with a sharply pointed toe and a shaft that collapsed into relaxed folds just below the knee. The softened structure created stacked ridges through the leg, amplifying the slouchy effect. A closer look revealed a concealed wedge heel tucked beneath the folds, bringing a modern twist to the revival silhouette.

Shakira styled the boots with a checkered mini set in navy and burgundy. The cropped tie-front shirt and pleated skirt served as a frame for the boots’ volume, with a silver chain trim adding edge.
The choice marks a shift from Shakira’s more theatrical footwear. Just this spring, she celebrated 20 years of “Hips Don’t Lie” in towering Amina Muaddi platforms on “The Tonight Show.” Onstage, she often opts for statement shoes built for spectacle, from crystal-covered Dan Life boots at the Super Bowl to metallic Adidas and Jordan sneakers during stadium tours.

Slouchy boots themselves have been gaining ground. Chrissy Teigen leaned on a suede stiletto version at the “Gabby’s Dollhouse” premiere earlier this month, while Tracee Ellis Ross debuted Balmain’s sculpted wedge take back in May. Designers from Ferragamo to Bottega Veneta have also been building out collapsed shafts in recent collections.
The Global Citizen Festival drew more than 60,000 people to Central Park’s Great Lawn for a day that mixed music with activism. Performances from Shakira, Cardi B, Tyla and Rosé headlined the lineup, with the annual event spotlighting global health, climate action and social justice alongside the star power onstage.
