Serena Williams’ Red Pumps Turn Heads at the Princesa De Asturias Awards Ceremony

On Friday night, tennis superstar Serena Williams made a splash at the Princesa De Asturias awards ceremony, clad in a head-to-toe fiery red ensemble featuring glossy pumps.

Boasting a skinny heel and pointy toe, Williams’ patent leather heels stole the spotlight at the event, which was held at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo, Spain. The renowned athlete paired the high-shine shoes with a slinky, body-hugging one-shoulder gown enlivened with intriguing ruching along the bodice and right hip, the latter of which was also detailed with a swirly-looking 3D element. The frock’s thigh-high slit, meanwhile, revealed a bit of Williams’ legs. 

Williams forewent a necklace, instead accenting the look with a timeless gold watch and tiny gold brooch, which was fastened on the bodice of her dress. Sticking to the red theme, she wore a bright crimson lipstick. From there, the tennis champion styled her platinum blonde hair in a middle part with long, voluminous curls. 

At the ceremony, Williams was one of the recipients of the Princess of Asturias Awards. “Feeling deeply honored to receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports in Northern Spain,” she captioned an Instagram post. “This award has been presented to so many remarkable individuals over the years, and to be recognized as part of that legacy is truly humbling.” Other accolades go to trailblazers in arts, literature, social sciences, communication and humanities, technical and scientific research, international cooperation, and concord, per Duke University.

The businesswoman wore the same pumps just hours prior to the ceremony while meeting members of the Spanish royal family, including King Felipe, Queen Letizia, and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia.
