Seal made a surprise appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Friday. The singer stopped by to promote his viral Super Bowl commercial, which also stars Becky G.
The ad for Mountain Dew Baja Blast parodies Seal’s 1994 hit “Kiss From a Rose,” and depicts the singer as an actual seal.
“This song has been around for 35 years, 40 years now,” Seal told host Drew Barrymore. “It’s incredible and the fact that I get to kind of have fun with it at last. There are very serious aspects of my life, you know, responsibility, accountability and what have you, so any chance I get to poke fun at myself and make my kids laugh and do something funny like this commercial, I’ll jump at it. I’m going to have a real blast at the Super Bowl with Mountain Dew.”
For his “Drew Barrymore Show” appearance, Seal layered a leather blazer over a black hoodie and trousers with a zipper detail.
The singer also discussed his son Henry Samuel’s runway debut during Paris Couture Week last month, where he opened Lena Erziak’s spring 2025 presentation. Seal shares the 19-year-old with his ex-wife, supermodel Heidi Klum.
While admittedly, the Grammy winner is excited to see his son follow in his mother’s footsteps, he also explained that his children’s happiness is most important.
“What I feel particularly happy about and proud about is that I know my son and I see he’s happy, and so I don’t really care if he is walking down a runway or if he is sweeping the streets, and I really do mean that,” Seal shared. “If my son were to wake up each morning, take a broom with a smile on his face, and go sweep the street, I’d be waking up to watch him do it with a big smile on my face.”
“So yes, I am proud,” he continued, “But I’m more proud watching him be happy. I try not to give my kids too much advice because they don’t think I’m cool in any case, but, the one piece of advice that I consistently give them is [to] do whatever you can to find out what makes you happy, and once you find that thing, you just hold on to it and keep doing it.”
Klum’s daughter Leni, from her previous relationship with Flavio Briatore, has also entered the modeling world, fronting lingerie campaigns for Intimissimi alongside her mother since 2022. Leni has appeared in ads for Dior Beauty and Fila, and she signed with IMG Models in 2024.
