Scottie Scheffler on pace with Colorado Rockies in terms of wins

Scottie Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament last week and made all kinds of history in the process.

A few months ago it felt somewhat fair to wonder if we were in for a year headlined by someone else other than the world number one, particularly when Rory McIlroy won the Masters.

McIlroy is an incredibly talented player – a Career Grand Slam winner obviously – so as noted this did not feel like a prisoner-of-the-moment sort of take. Scottie hadn’t won an event at that point in the season, he took longer to win for the first time in a season than he had in previous years which speaks to the absurd context surrounding his game, but as the calendar flipped to June he now officially has three victories to his name in 2025.

Scheffler first broke through this season at the CJ CUP over the first weekend in May. He went on to win the PGA Championship and most recently the Memorial for his hat trick to date.

That CJ CUP wrapped on Sunday, May 4th and some astute people around the internet have drawn an interesting comparison of sorts since then. If you look at the time since then to now… Scottie has as many wins by himself as the Colorado Rockies do as a team.

The Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants on Thursday, May 1st which was the day that the CJ CUP began. You have to draw a line on May 2nd to keep them tied with Scheffler as the Rockies have four total wins since the official beginning of May. You get the picture.

If you haven’t been keeping tabs… the Rockies are among the worst baseball teams to ever exist to this point in the season. It is insane to think that a baseball team, one who played 28 games in the defined stretch as noted, could only tie someone like Scheffler. Although to be fair… winning three events (out of four!) in a month’s time from Scottie is outrageous.

Sometimes sports are hard. Sometimes they are easy. It just depends who you are.

Sometimes you are the Colorado Rockies and sometimes you are Scottie Scheffler.
