Saks Global Fills Two Key Store Roles

Saks Global has just filled two crucial store positions.

Matt Dunphy has been named senior vice president of store growth and experiences for Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, a new role in the company. Christina DeGrezia has been named vice president and general manager of the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship in Manhattan.

Both executives will report to Mary McGreevy, the chief stores officer for Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

“Our stores are the ultimate expression of our brands and the foundational cornerstone of the customer experience,” McGreevy said in a statement Friday revealing the appointments. “Matt and Christina will play pivotal roles in bringing our ‘The Art of You’ vision to life, driving growth and innovation across our store portfolio.” The Art of You is the company’s strategic vision focusing on personalized experiences, leveraging customer data, new technology, and building stronger partnerships with brands.

Saks indicated that Dunphy will be responsible for “shaping and executing the Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus stores’ growth strategy, maximizing the potential of the store fleet and helping to redefine the in-store customer experience.” He will also be “championing innovation across the store experience.”

Prior to joining Saks Global, Dunphy spent 16 years at Bloomingdale’s in various leadership roles, including most recently serving as vice president, regional director of stores in the Northeast and Midwest regions.

DeGrezia is returning to Saks Fifth Avenue, where she spent nearly a decade in store leadership roles, including once serving as general manager of the New York flagship. She will oversee all facets of the iconic flagship’s business, “empowering” her teams to cultivate lasting relationships with customers and creating immersive activations. DeGrezia also joins Saks Global from Bloomingdale’s, where she served as senior director, general manager of the 59th Street flagship in Manhattan.

DeGrezia succeeds Matt Brown, who was promoted in August to senior vice president, regional director of Saks Global stores in the South.

Earlier this week, Saks Global reorganized its top management to cut costs and improve relations with brands and vendors, positioning its chief executive officer, Marc Metrick, to be more directly involved with brand partners. Among the changes, Emily Essner, president and chief commercial officer; Bill Bine, chief transformation officer for Saks Global, and Rob Brooks, the chief operating officer, left the company. Bine accepted another job within the technology industry. Responsibilities were assigned to remaining executives. Kim Miller, president of the Saks Off 5th off-price division, has been named chief customer officer, a new role at Saks Global.
