Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band Announce Tour, Share Video for New Song: Watch

Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band have announced a headlining tour and shared “Better If You Make Me,” the final preview of their upcoming album New Threats From the Soul. Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Tijah Bumgarner that was shot in Charleston, West Virginia, and Lexington, Kentucky. Watch it below.

“I was blown away by the extent to which, wherever we went, all Tijah had to do was say, ‘Hi, I’m a professor at Marshall University, and we’re here working on a student film,’” Davis said in a press statement. “Next thing you know, they’d be welcoming me onto their boat, letting me inside the cockpit of a real fucking airplane, unattended, no questions asked. At one point, the mayor of Charleston saw us filming at one of the bike race locations, walked up to us, and kissed me on the cheek while I was fully bloodied up in fight scene makeup, hahaha. The presence of a camera has a mysteriously bewitching effect on people.”

Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band head out on tour next month in support of the new LP. The tour begins on August 6, in Louisville, Kentucky. From there, they hit up a few Midwestern cities before flying to Europe for a long leg of shows. Upon returning to the United States, the band will then play over a dozen other gigs. Find the group»s complete list of tour dates below.

New Threats From the Soul is out this Friday, July 25. Dotting its tracklist are the singles “Monte Carlo / No Limits” and “New Threats From the Soul.” Ryan Davis—a former State Champion member, visual artist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter based in Louisville—recorded the new album with producer Seth Manchester, at Machines With Magnets, while his bandmates on the record include Manchester, percussionist Dan Davis, violist and violinist Elisabeth Fuchsia, drummer and pianist Will Lawrence, bassist and saxophonist Jim Marlow, pedal steel player Christopher May, and violinist Aaron Rosenblum.

New Threats From the Soul is Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band’s first album since the 2023 breakthrough Dancing on the Edge. Read about that LP in Pitchfork’s feature “The 37 Best Rock Albums of 2023.”
